Remain

You are God with us
You’re victorious
You are strong and mighty to save
For Your word stands true
There is none like You
And when all else fades
You remain

There’s nothing like having someone in your life that you know will always have your back. Someone whom you can depend on in a moments notice. Someone whom you know will come through if you ask. Because let’s face it, there will be times in your life in which you will need back up. I know we like to think that we can handle life on our own, and we even try to, but nevertheless the fact remains that we were never meant to do life alone.

And even though we know this, pride comes in and convinces us that we don’t need any help. I like to call this our “default”, let me explain. Anytime we go through life without much thought, conviction, or direction, we settle into our default mode. A mode consisting of doing things our own way, which ultimately leads to disobedience and sin. This is something that we need to keep our eyes open for, because settling back to our default often happens before you realize it. It slips in and takes root. It makes you believe that you aren’t doing anything wrong, that it is God that has messed up. This is dangerous. This keeps you in a rut and weakens your bones.

I encourage you my friends, to look to God as your example and inspiration. God is a God of wisdom, conviction, direction, purpose and love. There is nothing that He does that contradicts any of these things and the most encouraging thing of all, we were meant to reflect all that He is. Through listening, believing, obeying and doing what He says, we can begin to move towards this and out of our default.

When I hear this song, it reminds me that God has called us to a higher standard, not unreachable, but within our grasp, but only by His power and help alone. He is a God of victory and a God that stands by His word. Gazing upon such righteousness and beauty motivates me that I can do the same. And the God of all creation has my back as I strive to bring Him glory. We can be faithful my friends! We can be obedient! We can be trustworthy! We can have victory. And it all rests upon His shoulders.

Thank God today my friends and know that you are not alone.

Be Blessed

High Above It All

“Waters roar and mountains fall
You remain high above it all
You are high above it all
Kingdoms rage and nations shake
You remain high above it all
You are high above it all, Almighty God”

Have you ever been in a bad situation or circumstance and you felt like there was no way out? Like there is nothing that you can thing that can make things better? Whether it was caused by a misunderstanding or you yourself made a bad decision somewhere, you are left surrounded by a mess that you have to deal with. Or in some cases not deal with and run away. Either way a mess is a mess and it’s hard to figure out what to do when you are in the middle of it.

Life can undoubtedly get this way. In fact, in your life, things will go wrong at some point.  And It’s not a matter of, “Why did God do this to me?” or “I thought God loved me?”. It’s a matter of sin. Sin entered this world and messed up everything for all of us. This world is not perfect. Our lives are not perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect here on planet earth until God comes and reclaims what is His and renews everything. But where is God? What is He doing now? Sitting on some distant throne pitying us from a far? By no means no! Is He still a sovereign King and loving Father? By all means yes!!

Yes, God reigns high above all this mess. Yes, His thoughts and ways are higher then our own, but that doesn’t mean He is distant when we face troubles. Before Jesus there was no way for us to connect with the father. No way for us to tether ourselves to hope. But with Jesus, all things are possible.  With Jesus, we now have a wonderful opportunity and ability  to take a step back from the mess and tune in to what God would have us do. And believe me, God can see the bigger  picture of whatever you are going through, because He is high above it all. Be encouraged my friends. Next time you face some sort of trial or conflict, do yourself a favor and be still. Take time to seek God, and know that He is your hope.

Be Blessed.

Hosanna

Heal my heart and make it clean
Open up my eyes to the things unseen
Show me how to love like you have loved me

As a christian, I am encouraged by all the wonder, all the majesty of Christ (at least what I can comprehend). Oh, the wonderful gifts he gives to us as His sons and daughters. The inheritance of kings and queens! The salvation He has given to us. The eternal life that is ours. The bible is riddled with all kinds of promises that show us that we are loved. Promises that offer a hope  that this world can never give.  Doesn’t that sound wonderful? But let’s be honest here for a bit… when the going gets tough, does the tough ever over shadow all of this?

If you are anything like me, when times are hard and when I am truly tested, it seems to me that the translation of God’s greatness gets a little lost. The promises don’t seem very real.  In fact I go to read them and I just don’t seem to believe them. It’s like the feeling of faith and assurance ran off somewhere. Have you ever felt like this? Like you know that God is the only one who can save you, but He appears to be so so far away. I know I am not the only one who can get this way.

What are we to do? What can we do?

I believe that life can get so monumentally in the way of our relationship with Christ. This I know is true. You see it in how much time we spend on the internet, iphone, tv, friends, games, school, family. Literally everything is in the way. When was the last time your heard God’s voice direct you in your life? The bible tells us that as re-made children of God, we are no longer proper functioning citizens of this world, but boy do we like to still think we are. Distraction seeps into life like a little invisible-to-the-naked-eye virus. You can’t see it coming but when it has rooted itself into your life you can bet that you will see the effects: feelings of separation from God and discouragement, etc. What are we to do?

As hard is it may be, and whatever comes our way, we keep our eyes fixed on Him.

Remember your first love with Jesus. The reason you were saved, the price that was paid. Some of us, get to point where we don’t believe any more simply because we let our heart get too dirty. Distraction had it’s filthy way and covered us in gunk. But, Jesus is faithful and just. He is Hosanna, the God who saves. He will never leave you of forsake you. If you would only ask with a humbled heart, your eyes/heart can be cleaned and opened. You will see God. And when you see Him, He will show you how He loved you during this whole time of trial. And I can guarantee, you will be inspired to love others, the way you have been loved. Be aware of this my friends, because Satan is prowling around and wanting to make you miserable, but have faith. God can shield us and strengthen us… we need only to ask and depend on Him.

Be Blessed my friends.

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Well, it’s a new year, another chance to live our lives in a way that could be more meaningful then the last year. Now is a time when we look forward, make goals, make hopeful predictions as to where we will be by the end of this new year. Perhaps there are some of you didn’t have a great year in 2013 and 2014 could be that opportunity to make up for past mistakes, to make resolutions that will benefit your heart and soul. Perhaps a new year is exactly what you need because deep down everything didn’t turn out the way you wanted in 2013.

I believe on some level, every human being on this planet may feel this way. Of course there are choices we made in the past that didn’t turn out so well for us. Of course there are areas in our lives that we have experienced failure, heartache, sorrow and pain. This life is full of those kinds of things, whether we have caused them of not. Sometimes it feels like things are out of control, but the one thing that we can control is our attitude. I think that’s why we see so many of the “resolutioneers” out there. We want to better ourselves. Be more prepared. Be ready for the next challenge. Strive and thrive in areas where we were barely alive. You see it every year. People wanting a new second chance. Another opportunity. We hunger for this.

Christ wants to satisfy your hunger for all things new. He wants to be the one who comes in and takes those mistakes you made in the past and erase the guilt and shame from your life. On top of that, he wants to replace that old nature with a new one. A one that will choose to make the righteous decisions because it wants to. We were made to live in an eternally constant new state, but as you know, sin messed that up and Jesus Christ is the only one that can help you better yourself.

So I urge you my brothers in sisters, may the lyrics above be your prayer this 2014. May you cast all you cares, concerns, burdens, goals, hopes, and dreams upon Him who is worthy and able to do all things. Trust Jesus and follow His every step in the area’s you suffer from. He has come to make all things new, and that includes you.

Happy New Years my friends!

Be Blessed.

Angels We Have Heard On High

Have you ever wanted something so bad and for so long, that the moment you receive word that it is coming, you get so excited you can’t even contain it? You burst with energy! You’re spirit is high! The world seems like it’s the most beautiful thing you have ever seen! I think of a child whose told on their birthday that they are going to Disneyland. The rush of joy over them. The look on their face. Nothing could make them happier. Can you remember a time like that? Either in the distant past of the recently?

When the angels announced Christ’s coming I believe, all creation rejoiced! Just like that child, a rush of joy and excitement filled all of creation! Angels, heaven, earth, shepherds, the kings, Mary and Joseph knew the glory of the messiah was coming! The glory of the King was going to walk the earth bringing salvation with every step. Amazing!! Yet it seems that the only ones left out, were the rest of us….

People like those that never saw it coming. That never cared to look. That never knew they needed saving. Those that expected something else, perhaps their own answer to their problem. Those that would rather have something else than a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes. Those that were ignorant. And the truth is that this world is still filled with people like this. And what’s even more sad, is that the rest of us that know about Christ tend to slip back into this state of ignorance.

I know for myself, I need to be reminded that the most wonderful powerful amazing thing was given on that day. Much more that just a baby, but a savior of my heart and soul, a reason to rejoice and to have hope. This time is much more than just a holiday season but rather a time to join in all of creation in the continual song of glorifying the one who came to save.

Dig deep my friends, fill your hearts with hope and remember the gift that Jesus was, is, and will be to you and this world. Find your heart joining in with the song gloria, in eccelsis deo!!

Be Blessed my friends!

Exalted One

Whether you realize it or not, people, in general, make decisions based off of something or someone they have placed in a high authority over their lives. This authority could be anything from yourself, to your friends, to money or food. All these authoritative figures effect anything from what you eat to what you wear to what you want to do for the rest of your life. Any and every decision is means to get to an end that you choose. The fact of the matter is that we are created to be goal oriented beings, to always be on the move and to strive for the next step. Now, by the grace of God, if that goal or next step is positive or negative or neutral, that is our God given right to decide. But no decision is without consequence and consequence is where we find either the treasure or death.

The bible says that above all the ebb and flow of life God is positioned as a King that rules over all. And the thing about God positioning his excellence and authority of all creation is that it can never be changed, challenged, or overcome. He is the end all be all. Meaning that there is nothing that we can choose to do that will take away or add to all of His power, glory and strength. He is and forever will be King exalted over all of EVERYTHING. So what does this mean for us? Is He just some distant king that just barks orders at His lowly servants? And we come groveling at His every whim? Well, the truth is there is nothing we can do that can place Him in a higher position over all creation and he doesn’t need us to… but he wants us to. And that’s where choice comes in.

We all have the ability to choose our own path , to follow our own ways, to exalt whatever and whomever in our lives. We can be like loose cannons wayward and directionless scattered across a battlefield. Everyone doing their own thing and everyone meeting their demise as a result of choosing sin. And what does God do? Send His son to this battle field to be an example and provide a path that will lead to direction and purpose, a path that leads straight to the Father, the King of all creation. Yes, He doesn’t need us, but He wants to save us and show us that there is a choice now that leads to love and life with Him. He doesn’t force His way in. He is patient, sitting on the throne of all Glory and might, waiting you for you to look to Him and choose to exalt Him along with all creation in your own life and choices. I guess naturally the next question is will you exalt Him?

Be Blessed my Friends.

Pursuit

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?” – Psalm 139: 7

There is literally no where we can run from His presence. He is what is holding everything together. All things are functioning because it is Him that allows it. All creation is a witness and declares the Glory of the lord. He governs all things on earth with wisdom we cannot comprehend and His eyes see into the hearts of every man and woman. He is present in everything.

Then why do we feel like sometimes He is the most distant being ever?

Have you ever learned something from school and then years later, even months later  you forget what you learned? Have you ever been in a relationship were you spent the first months eating up all the information about that person but then a year or two later you stop figuring stuff out about him or her and you realize that you don’t know who that person is anymore? Or how about, training everyday to compete in a sport, then you stop, years later you try to play that sport and you realize how out of shape you are? I think you know what I am getting at.

The human race is flawed in a sense that without actively pursuing something we return to a default way of thinking or doing. And being that we are human, our default is everything imperfect, everything that is wrong for us, everything that is unhealthy, everything that is sin before the Lord.

So of course, if we are not actively living a life a righteousness we are by default living a life of unrighteousness. If we are not seeking to hear from God, or not reading the huge multi-book love letter also known as the bible, or even not talking with Him, we will most definitely feel distant from the God whose presence is everywhere. Our hearts become closed to Him without choosing to open up to Him.  And sometimes you don’t even realize that you heart is closed!

So, I challenge everyone of you. Find an area in your life in which you feel like God is distant and find a place that is separated from everything else. Kneel, pray, listen, read and ask. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and, everything shall be added to you. That is a promise.

This song is crying out to the Lord. It is choosing to take a posture of humility before the Lord. Asking Him to fill us up after we have opened out hearts and emptied whats inside. And always, what He has for you is better than what you have for yourself. Enjoy and be blessed.

“You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” – Psalm 16:11
